Virupa: In the Sakya Tradition the mahasiddha associated with the Lamdre system of practice, Virupa, has six principal forms that relate chronologically to his life story. He actually has several more forms described in early liturgies and guruyoga practices but during the time of Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo (1382-1456) six forms were codified and promoted. The image of the sculpture on the left, from the Lamdre Lhakang at Gyantse Palkor Chode, depicts Virupa performing a teaching gesture (mudra). --- Jeff Watt, 2012
