Jurors
ANIMATION
Gilbert Taggart
made his first animated film in 1949 and has been making them ever since. For thirty-five years he taught in Montreal, where he and his wife Marie-Elizabeth founded Cinedessin, a company devoted to the production and distribution of educational films.  His animation, Ils Trais Vents, was aired on Swiss television this year. Gilbert's style of animation is the traditional cell animation technique.

Edmond Letain
A graduate from Ryerson with a film production degree and worked as a Producer with Alberta's Access Network for six years.  he graduated from the University of Victoria law school, winning an award for top standing in copyright research and has since published a paper on copyright law and film colorization. Letain's main practice areas are entertainment, copyright, multi-media business law and general civil litigation.

DOCUMENTARY
Jim Elderton
began his career in the UK, where he cut his editing teeth as a BBC trainee on the Dr. Who series.  This was followed by Panorama, the Great War series, and Not Only But Also with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. He then joined Zoetrope to cut music videos for the Police, Devo and Stray Cats among others. In Canada, he has worked as the lead editor on Friday Street Productions' Take-Off series. In Victoria, he has worked with all major television producers and has recently set up a production company with his wife, Stephanie.
Stephanie Elderton
is a writer and the co-owner of Victoria based Wildflower Productions.

Patsy Kotsopoulos
teaches film studies at the University of Victoria. Since 1990, she has worked a a writer, editor, and publisher on a number of film and cultural publications.  This summer, she served on the preview committee for Canadian Images at the Vancouver International Film Festival. She is enrolled in the doctoral program in Communications at Simon Fraser University.
John Marshall
Working in collaboration with editors and directors, John has been creating graphics and animation for video and television in Victoria for the past nine years. Past projects include Take Off Again, The Best Places to Kiss, and numerous commercials.
Stephen Scobie
is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Victoria.  He is widely published as both a poet and a critic.  He won the Governor General's Award for Poetry in 1980, and is a fellow the Royal Society of Canada.  He has taught courses on film at the University of Alberta and the University of Victoria, and has worked as regular film reviewer for CKUA radio in Edmonton, and for Monday Magazine.
