SNI PRAYFUL MEDITATION Practice SP Meditation

SP meditatron is a spiritual practice in which the whole body becomes one with the Truth. Proper posture is therefor of utmost importance. That is, proper physical posture is requested to give one the proper posture of the mind.

The posture is such that the upper and lower parts of your body as well as tthe front and back are in turn with the cosmic order. There are two postures, which are explained in sections 1-a and 1-b belowe.

1-A ORDINALY WAY SITTING STRAITLY ON A CUSHION

In this posture, one sits folding one's legs under him so that the let foot is placed over the sole of the right root (see illustration). The left symbolizes the masculine principle, positive polartity of the cosmic order, or heaven; whereas the right symbolizes the feminine principle, negative polarity of the cosmic order, or earth. This is the nature of the cosmic order. By assuming the proper posture in harmony with the cosmic law, it becomes easier to attune oneself with the vibration of God's life, which is cosmic law, the Truth, llight, wisdom,. and absolute love. This posture represents proper cosmic order in which the heaven covers the eartth.

To sit properly in the traditional posture, the following points should be considered. First, touch the spot sbout midway between the heel and the knob of the anklebone on the inside of your right foot, and you will feel an indentation or a soft spot. Place the left big toe in this spot. Your right bib toe should be placed near the knob of the anklebone in the outside of yoiir left foot.

Lean forward, supporting most of your weight on your hands, raise your hips slightly, and push your hips back as much as you can. Now, sit up erect, with back straight and abdomen pushed out to the front as far as it will go. The upper body should be at ease without atiffness. Keep your back straight, head eredt, and pull your chin back in as much as you can. You are now in a position of firm, balanced readimess, with all parts of the bodyin alignment with the cosmic forces. The head held high is at the highest point as it should be, the backbone is in line with the flow of the forces between the heavens and the earth, the feet are properly beneath the rest of your body./

If you cannot assume this posture because of illness, etc., you may do the S P aMeditation lying down. However, it is most desiraaaable to assume the correct posture if at all possible. By so doing, you get an entirely different feeling than the one you would get if your posture were sloppy. This different feeling in turn affects your mental vibrations.

1-B SITTING IN CHAIR

SP Meditation may be practiced sitting in a chair. Also, if you are learning to sit in the traditional (ordinal) style, you may want to move back and forth between the two styles until you get accustomed to the former. When sitting in a chair ,sit as far forward as possible. Keeping yourn heels together, draw your feet dirctly bbeneath you with only your toes touching the floor andsupporting a good part of your body weight. If you are in soubtas to whether you have assumedthe correct posture, test it by putting all your weight on your toes and lifting your hips off the chair momeentarily. If you can do this and return toyour original position or one close to the edgfe of the chair, it means that you have the cirrect postyre. Other details of the postyre are the same as when sitting in the ordinal (traditional) sotyle.

2. HANDS

Hold your hands toghether in the attitude of prayer, with fingertips and heels of the touching lightly and a space between the palms large enough to hele an egg. Do not press the palms tightly togethe. Hold your hands upright in front of your face so that the space between the thumbs comes directly in front of your nmouth. This will bring the tips of your middle fingers on a level with the center of your forehead ( see illustratioj aboce).Your hands should be hekd as close to your face as possible, but without touching it. Lower your hands to rest if they get tired, but return them to the prescribed position when rested.

The human body is a living electrical cell. Therefore , when the right and left hands-- negative and positive poles, respectively-- are joined together, an electric current of life or life power is generated. The forehead, a spiritual center, is the placce from which spiritual light emanated when Biddha and Jesus preached theTruth. The fingers and palms of the hands, together with the breath, are also sources of spiritual power. The reason we hold our hands together on a level with the forrehead, vertically in line with heaven and eartgh, is becaause the union of these three centers of spiritual power--- the forehead, hands and breath-- will produce a human magnetic center through their interaction, and thus forman antenna which will be recepttive to God's power that permeates the universe.

3 EYES

We close our physical eyes and open up our spiritual eyes during the prctice of SP mmeditaion. We close our physical eyes to shut out worldly influences: that is , we leave behind the world of the five senses or the phenomenal world furing meditation. Some habitually frown while meditating. Such people radiate agloomy spiritual wave and so are apt to attract the vibrations of gloomy, inferior spirits. The forehead, therefore. should be smooth and serene during meditation. SP Meditation is a meeting with God; therefore, it is the happiest moment of our entire day. To be one with God, we must be bright and cheerful.

The eyes behing thr closed eyelids should be turned upwards as if to seek the light. This helps us considerably in attaining spiritual con entration.

4 BREATHING

Proper breathing is importaants in SP meditation. Breathe slowly, quietly, deeply. Proper breath control is explained indetail under Section 6.

5 INVLCATION

To start the SP Meditation recite ( it is chanted in the original Japnese--- see score below) the following invocation.

1. ) O Parrent God who give lifeto all living beings, Fill my whole being with your spirit and all blessings

2.) My life is not my own to vlaim. It is the life of God, who permeates the universe.

3.) My acts are not my own to claim, They are the accts of God, who permeates the univers.

4). May the Eternal Christ who has appwared to teach us the way, Guide us ans protesct us!

This invocation should be recited with the feeling of calling upon God. It is important to enter into ther realization of oneness with God theroough mental cooncetration by meditating solely on God. This is quite different from that of becoming empty thrrough mental concentration as taught in other meditations.

What we worship as the Universal God is the Original Soul, the Creator of the Universe, who givces lifee to all living beilngs. It is from this only sorce that we are goven life. So, whether we pray or not does not alter this fact. However, in so praying , we can reaffirm this fact and so become attuned to the Source of Life.

.As soon as you reaffirm this Truth in the first stanza, go to the second, and deeply contemplate on the Truth that life is Gos-Life! Next, in the third stanza, affirm that everything you do is the work of God! Lastly, in the fourth stanza pray and ask the protection and guidance of the Guardian Angel of the Truth of Life Movement-- an Incarnation of the One God-- who has appeared to show us the divine way.

zthe "Kiai". which follows the Invocation, is a powerful utterance of the sound :"I-Yuuuuu!" Its purpose is to release in concentrared foem, the spiritual strrength from within, which merges and brings one in contact with the power of God permeating tthe univese. It islike turning oon the switch of the TV set, thereby readying the set for reception. Unlike the sharp, destruvtive kiai used when striking or throwung an adversary, the kiai in SP Meditation is drawn out, and life-give=ing rather than life -taking, but by no means lacking in power.

When doing the kiai, do it with all your might and let it come from the pit of your stomach. The kiai is also the signal to begin the meditatiojn.

6 . ThE WORD IN BASIC MEDITATION

The Meditative thought that follows the Kiai goes like this:

Meditate thus, repeating this prodesude over and over again, The normal SP Meditatio lasts for about 30 minutes. Then , enter into Prayer for world Peace.
