Personal Details

My name is Shawn Logan, I'm a 28 year old male and last April I completed a two year journalism program at Kwantlen University college in Richmond, Canada (The city is next to Vancouver, web site by Jerry)I am single male (any takers!) I was born in Montreal, Quebec on the 24th of December, 1969. (I guess an early Christmas present!) I have a rare genetic disorder called, Friedreich's ataxia (FA)I utilize a manual teal blue Quickie wheelchair and an electric scooter for mobility.

Our family moved to Vancouver when I just a year old. Then when I was six, my dad got a job transfer to South Africa. We lived in Johannesburg for five years. We then came back to live in Richmond.

I have been very fortunate to travel all over the world. I have seen many great cities. Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Boston, Sydney and Perth in Australia, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Amsterdam in Holland, London England, Cape Town in South Africa the list can go and on. But I don't want to brag or bore you with that. However, I do want to say that despite visiting all those great cities, none can compare to living in Vancouver! Is that bragging… well maybe, but one cannot escape the facts that this is the only city in the world where one can play golf almost all year round then go skiing (not that I do that!) and the incredible view of the majestic Rocky Mountains, that provide a perfect back drop for our city! For me personally though, is that Vancouver is one of the better accessible cities in the world! And that we are a very multicultural society.

Interests and Hobbies

Music & Computers

I enjoy computers & music e.g; U2, REM, Smashing Pumpkins Julianna Hatfield (Picture of Jules) and Beck. I also embrace some in my hometown music scene; Sarah McLachlan, Rose Chronicles, Delirium and 54-40 have all plucked a chord in me! With a flavor towards the alternative scene, but I try to embrace all musical forms! I especially enjoy listening to CBC Radio sonic on the radio on Saturday nights and Brave New Waves. (both shows are also broadcast over the net with real audio).

I also belong to a list serve group called, INTERNAF (http://internaf.merseyside.org/)INTERNAF is an email-based support group on all the various ataxia's. There are appox. 400 people subscribed around the world!

RPG's

I greatly enjoy playing Role Playing Games (RPG) as well as reading fantasy books! A few of my favorite authors are Terry Brooks (Shannara series), Here is a map of the land of Shannara. & JRR Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and horror author Poppy Z. Brite.

Sailing

I love to sail the waters of English Bay in the summer! I joined the Disabled Sailing Association (DSA) at Jerrico Sailing Centre. I sail a dingy class boat. Just me and the breeze to push me. Pure freedom! and the view is spectacular, with the North Shore Mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge. I also greatly enjoy swimming. I guess I'm a water baby. My favorite creature is the dolphin, forever graceful in its aquatic environment.
