CAN'T PAY STUDENT LOANS? CAN'T DECLARE BANKRUPTCY?
The Student Legal Fund Society (SLFS) at UBC is looking for clients to
challenge the Federal Bankruptcy Act which prohibits the discharging of
student loans through bankruptcy for 10 years.
If you are unable to pay your student loans (for reasons of disability
or childcare responsibilities for example) and have tried and failed to
declare
bankruptcy, contact the SLFS with the details of your case preferably at
slfs@direct.ca otherwise fax (604)822-1208. please include details of:
- YOUR AGE
- HOW MUCH YOU OWE, AND TO WHOM
- WHETHER YOU HAVE EXHAUSTED LOAN REMISSION
- YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL (IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO WORK, STATE WHY)
- YOUR CURRENT SOURCES OF INCOME
- WHETHER YOUR LOAN IS NOW WITH A COLLECTION AGENCY
The SLFS is a non-profit group run by UBC students which provides free legal assistance to bring lawsuits in the interests of students
