North Vancouver is situated across the north shore of Burrard Inlet. North of the City of Vancouver, site of the 1986 World's Fair, the 1987 Commonweatlh Heads of Government Summit, the historic 1993 meeting between U.S. President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin. Vancouver and Whistler were chosen by the Canadian Olympic Association to present Canada's bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.
While the whole area was settled by the Aboriginal peoples thousands of years ago the Europeans did not arrive until the time of Captain James Cook. From then on the forests and the abundant wildlife stirred the European's penchant for the fur trade and virgin old growth timber.
In the intervening period the British Columbia economy has focused on the natural resource sectors of forestry, mining and fishing.
In the past 20 years the Lower Mainland has diversified it's economy. Our new growth industries are in the high tech and tourism sectors. An ever increasing movie and television production industry is replacing a lot of the jobs being offset by the dwindling rescource industries.
This page is meant to be a mixture of information links and an unabashed showcase for my photographic talents. In addition, from time to time I will write a new "Rant". These are meant to be a humorous look at the world as seen through my eyes. A lot of the humor may not be understood by those living outside of North Vancouver or general surrounding area. None of them are meant to be nasty or inflammatory but if that's what you read into them please go somewhere else.
I am a graduate of Blueridge Elementary and Windsor Secondary Schools here in North Vancouver. I work for THE major broadcasting network in Canada (CBC) as a technician.
My hobbies are reading, photography, amateur radio, computers, and aviation and related technologies. I also do volunteer work in community policing at the Lynn Valley Community Policing Center.
