The ready availability of the 40+ natural trace elements in all of our daily food wipes out practically all diseases, including most of the presently 'incurable' diseases - and restores our natural birthright to 120 year life-spans in freedom from practically all diseases.

Currently, the oldest living woman known is 120 years old and lives in France, and a man living in Lebanon is reported to be 122 years old. Although unusual, there have been, and are scores of such extremely long-lived people here and there, and all over the world. It is also the tenet of modern biology that the normal human genome endows us with about 125 years of life. This is our basic natural birthright - and as the five long-lived societies around the world prove - in strapping physical and mental health, until just before the end.
But this is not happening for most of us, by far. Instead, we are beset by a multitude of diseases, and depart, on the average, 50 years, and often more, before our natural endowment of 125 years - never mind in complete freedom from disease.
What then has gone wrong? Not much, really - and it can be fixed easily and quickly - but it has proven devasting on a scale that staggers the mind. What has gone wrong is a very fundamental nutritional factor. To understand this, we have to take a quick look at the whole fabric of Life.
Right from the formation of the primeval Earth, the seas and the soils have always contained the full range of the 92 natural elements - of which over 40 are vitally important biological "trace elements". (Iodine, so absolutely vital to our health, is element #53 in "The Periodic Table of the Elements", and we need traces of about a dozen elements beyond iodine) These trace elements (also called 'trace minerals') are so called because they exist in the seas (in solution) and in the soils of the Earth in miniscule 'traces'.
Life originated in the rich chemical 'soup' of the sea, and has evolved in that enviroment for 3.5 billion years. Right from its beginnings, Life has incorporated most of these natural trace elements into all basic metabolic and immune functions of all living things. Consequently, the survival, health and well being of all Life on the Earth depends upon the presence of the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in all of its food. To whit; all marine life - from seaweed to whales - still contains the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements. In short, the whole fabric of Life is built - from bottom to top - upon the 40+ nutritional trace elements.
In his book "Beginnings of Cellular Life", page 66, world renowned biologist Harold J. Morowitz lists 16 (!) biological trace elements (manganese, iron, cobalt, copper, zinc, boron, aluminium, vanadium, molybdenum, iodine, silicon, tin, nickel, chromium, fluorine, selenium) which are absolutely necessary for the survival and reproduction of the simplest living cells. More complex organisms, with roots, leaves and blossoms, and with muscles, lungs, hearts, wombs, brains, and so forth, need a far greater variety of biological trace elements to stay healthy and well.
In deadly contrast, our modern agriculture monitors and maintains a paltry 5 (!) biological trace elements (boron, copper, manganese, molybdenum, zinc) in its soils, hence in its products, and hence, in our daily food. Three more trace elements are added at other stages of our nutrition (cobalt in salt licks for cattle & sheep; selenium in fortified chicken feed; and iodine in our table salt). This comes to a paltry total of 8 (!) of the natural biological trace elements in our daily food. Due to this vast ignorance and total neglect by our modern agriculture, well over 30 biological trace elements have become either severely deficient, or entirely absent in its soils, hence in its products, and hence in practically all of our daily food.
This is the crux of the matter; nothing more; and nothing less.This long-standing lack of well over 30 vitally important biological trace elements in our daily food is the root cause of most of the diseases which plague us today. Today's severely trace element-deficient food deprives us of the full, natural and eons-old resources for the normal function of our metabolisms and immune systems. And the consequences are exactly what is happening all around us. We are beginning to die like flies from all manner of new and mysterious diseases.
However, a simple dietary routine which includes a daily helping of 4 to 6 oz. of seafood (any kind of seafood) will provide the minimum level of the 40+ nutritional trace elements in our nutrition. Seafood is the only readily available food which still contains the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements, and it provides dramatic proof.
This dietary routine has cured the following diseases among my circle of family, friends and acquaintances: Arthritis, gout, diabetes, thyroid disorders, lupus, leukaemia, Lou Gehrig's disease, herpes, Kaposi's sarcoma, all vascular and neural cholesterol diseases, even colds, the flu, hayfever and many other allergies. As we shall see, it is also highly effective against many birth defects and several cancers.
There now exists a very large and steadily growing body of solid scientific proof which fully supports my discovery. For instance: A recent study has found that a dietary supplement of the trace element selenium greatly reduces the incidence of lung, colon, rectal and prostate cancers. Done at the Arizona Cancer Centre, College of Medicine, University of Arizona, Tucson, the investigators found that the selenium group had 63 per cent fewer prostate cancers, 58 per cent fewer colon and rectal cancers, and 46 per cent fewer lung cancers than the placebo group, and that there was a 50 per cent reduction of mortality (JAMA, Journal of the American Medical Association, Dec. 25. 1966).
This is extremely significant. Selenium is added only to 'fortified' chicken feed, and hence, is present only in chickens reared on this 'fortified', and more expensive chicken feed. Most farmers don't bother because most chickens are killed for market before they are 6 months old.
The effect of a selenium deficiency in chickens is quite startling. One minute such a chicken is walking around normally, then suddenly starts to wobble, and keels over, stone-cold dead. A selenium deficiency turns the normally red muscles of chickens white, and makes them non-functional. So, not all chicken meat is rich in nutritional selenium, and strict vegetarians will not get any selenium in their nutrition since selenium is NOT maintained in agricultural soils at all. And given the iffyness of selenium in chicken meat, our main source of nutritional selenium (or any other nutritional trace element) is red meat and seafood. The remainder comes from incidental sources - some groundwater, remaining traces in the soil here and there, imported food from other countries, etc.- that vary from region to region, from place to place, and according to dietary preferences. The spottiness of nutritional selenium sources is the reason why the selenium study has shown such dramatic results. Conversely, the wide-spread incidence of prostate, colon, rectal, and lung cancers among our population is a rather precise indicator of the selenium deficiency in the general population.
And red meat has become very 'iffy' too. The fairly recent appearance of "Mad Cow" disease in cattle is macabre proof that all is far from well on the farm. Although this is an immensely complex subject, and the cause of the disease is still under hot dispute (viral versus prion), it has all the classic earmarks of a long-standing trace element deficiency. When I had submitted this suggestion to the top medical expert in this field at the University of Edinburgh, it was not dismissed out of hand. Instead, he recommended that I submit my proposition to the prestigious scientific journal "Nature".
It is also well known, for instance, that the incidence of breast cancer in women in the Orient and the Innuit of Northern Canada is five times lower than of Western women. Moreover, when Oriental women emigrate to the Western nations, they also acquire the five times higher breast cancer rate of Western women. The reason for this is that traditional Oriental agricultural methods maintain - via the return of all life-wastes - most of the 40+ nutritional trace elements in the soil, and hence, in all their agricultural products. When moving to the West - and its trace element deficient food - these women also come down with the same high breast cancer rate of Western women. The five times lower breast cancer rate of Innuit women (Statistics Canada, 1996) is also due to the high seafood content of their normal nutrition. For the same reason, the Innuit and Eskimo people are also well known for the absence of any cardiovascular and neural cholesterol diseases.
Another recent item in the news documented the fact that a Northern Canadian Native tribe suffers from an extremely high incidence of diabetes. This news item also showed that these Natives have switched from their traditional nutrition to mostly hamburgers and french fries - and thus, to the severely trace element-deficient food of our modern agriculture. This can be easily corrected by including at least 6 oz. of seafood in their daily nutrition.
The same factor appears to be at work in the incidence of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. A recent study done at the National Institute on Ageing has found that 4 to 11 per cent of persons over the age of 65 living in Western nations have some form of dementing illness, whereas the incidence of Alzheimer's and dementia in Japan is only 1.5 (!) per cent.
Moreover, Japanese men who have emigrated to Hawai (the focus and location of the study) also acquire the same high rate of dementias ( 9.3 percent - 4.5 % due to Alzheimer's) of the Western population. (JAMA, Journal of the American Medical Association; Sept. 25. 1996) In an accompanying editorial, George M. Martin, MD., and Walter A. Kukull, Ph.D., University of Washington, Seattle, write: "For those members of our species living in the Western world, dementias of the Alzheimer type appear to be extraordinarily prevalent. Incidence doubles about every five years beginning at age 65 years. Prevalence rates as high as 37.0 to 63.2 percent have been reported for those over 85 years."
It is pure simple logic that the lack of over 30 biological trace elements in modern Western food affects our mental health as severely as it does our physical health. In the Western nations, the only readily available food which still contains the full natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements is seafood. And the simple "something from the sea everyday" nutritional routine works, and it works wonderfully well. In about three months - the time it takes our body to replace its proteins - most people will be cured of most of these diseases. No ifs, no buts, no maybes.
Reverse proof is just as dramatic. When this dietary routine is discontinued, all of the old symptoms return - only to disappear just as promptly upon resumption of the "something from the sea everyday" nutritional routine. This rules out 'spontaneous remissions' completely. And this cure is easily repeatable by anyone, anywhere, any time, and at any age.
There are several cautions. One is the high salt content of seafood. This could easily prove fatal to people with high blood pressure and other salt sensitivities. Anyone (!) who decides to try this simple dietary routine is strongly advised to reduce their salt intake from all other sources, and to do this only under the supervision of a physician! Still, and on the other hand - and except for the high salt content of seafood - a daily helping of seafood amounts to the same thing as having 6 oz. of brocolli a day, and is far healthier for us than eating a couple of eggs per day. Another caution is that all shellfish are high in 'bad' cholesterol. The other caution is that coastal marine species are often contaminated with industrial and other pollutants. Consequently, deep-sea fish is best.
As supremely effective as it is, the daily seafood routine is a temporary 'make-do' method. Today, our marine food resources are teetering at the brink of extinction, and there simply is not enough seafood to provide everyone with their daily dose of the 40+ biological trace elements. And it has to be on a daily basis, otherwise - and due to the constant renewal of our bodies - it does not work. The only completely safe, valid and long-term solution is to re-establish and maintain the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in the soils of our agriculture, hence in all of its products, and hence, in all of our daily food. This can be done simply, quickly, cheaply and effectively with a 40+ trace element 'fertilizer'. If mandated today and implemented tomorrow, we could be free of all manner of diseases - even practically all so-called 'incurable' diseases - in less than a year.
What is needed is a massive public demand to re-establish the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in all of our food (via agriculture) - and to return to us our natural birthright to 120 year life-spans in complete freedom from disease. We need to raise a storm - a storm of such proportions as has never been seen before - for the return of our stolen birthright to 120 years in freedom from all disease. At stake is not only our and our children's, and our children's children's health, but the health of all humanity. For if we don't, we will die not with a bang, but with a wimper - as so many have done already, and are doing right now - long before their and our time. For mark this well; it will get worse; much worse, if we don't.
Even if you are young and supremely healthy now, you need the complete range of the 40+ biological trace elements - in order to stay that way for another 100 years. You also get to keep all your hair in the bargain. And it is crucially important for all women who are considering having a baby. Even a minor trace element deficiency can have devastating effects on a developing embryo. The fairly recent news of the bitter tragedy of a baby girl born without eyes was due to nothing more than a nutritional zinc deficiency in the mother. In my view, the lack of so many vitally important trace elements in our daily food is also the cause of the rapidly rising incidence of "Attention Deficit Disorder" in our children. If I were a woman considering having a child, I would not even think about it without going on a daily diet of "something from the sea every day" 100 days before conception. This is how long it takes to replace existing proteins in our bodies, and before the complete range of the 40+ trace elements is fully re-established in our bodies. And since our bodies do not store the trace elements, this daily dietary routine will have to be maintained throughout pregnancy to assure a whole and healthy baby.
Re-establishing and maintaining the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in all agricultural soils has other very powerful benefits as well. Chief among them is absolute safety. Our crops take up, filter and combine the trace elements according to their needs. This natural filtering and combining process by plants is just perfect for our needs, and makes it completely safe for us - for too much of the trace elements is just as deadly as too little! But most importantly, it also results in a completely poison-free agriculture! Our food crops suffer just as much as we do from the lack of the full range of the 40+ natural trace elements.(see "A Rich, Abundant, and Completely Poison-free Agriculture").
I have known, and lived by this for 12 years now. If I had not discovered this, I would long be dead of Lou Gehrig's disease. In 1985, the physician told me, "go home; there is nothing that can be done for you." I did, went on this diet - and proved him wrong. A couple of months later, I was as good as new. Since then, I have written to all manner of scientific institutions, health authorities, scientific publications, academics, publishers, physicians, news media, even politicians, and anyone else I could think of. But since I am only a little old gardener who has stumbled upon this stunning discover by sheer serendipity, no one listens. But, as blind justice would have it, recent research in the biomedical sciences has shown that my discovery is absolutely correct. Within the last decade, 6 'new' trace elements (chromium, nickel, silicon, tin, arsenic and vanadium) have now been recognized as absolutely necessary to the normal functioning of our metabolisms and immune systems, and to our health and well being. As the direct consequence of these recent discoveries, these newly recognized biological trace elements (with the exception of arsenic of course) are now available in some over-the-counter vitamin-plus-mineral drugstore supplements, such as "Centrum Select" by Lederle Corp.
That we need a micro-miniscule trace of arsenic to remain healthy - astonished even me. But the results of recent bio-medical research leaves no doubt. Here are two of the earliest, among dozens of published papers on this subject:
I am also fully aware of the genetic component of many diseases. However, and until 10 years ago, our scientists did not know that the trace elements perform absolutely crucial functions at the genetic level. The trace element zinc, for instance, forms the 'fingers' of the transcription proteins which fit - like a complex key into a highly sophisticated lock - into DNA's helix to initiate the process of transcribing DNA information into RNA, messenger RNA, and proteins (see; "Zinc Fingers"; SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, Feb. 1993, page 56: Summary; "They play a key part in regulating the activity of genes in many species, from yeast to humans. Fewer that 10 years ago no one knew they existed.").
Without sufficient zinc in one's system, this absolutely fundamental process is sabotaged. While our genes may contain all the correct information, a zinc deficiency in our nutrition makes it impossible to express and use this genetic information in our bodies, metabolisms and immune functions. It is as if we have plenty of cannons - but no ammunition - in our fight against decay and diseases. The inexorable result is that we suffer from one or the other 'genetic' disease. Worse, a zinc deficiency in a pregnant woman's nutrition will result in severe birth defects in her offspring - among them 'elephant brain', no eyes, hare lip, club foot, and many heart, lung and uro-genital abnormalities (see; "Symptoms Of Zinc Deficiency In Rats"; The Neuropathology Of The Trace Elements; I. E. Dreosti & R. M. Smith; The Human Press Inc; 1984).
The current sharp rise of heart defects in new-borns has all the earmarks of a nutritional zinc deficiency in their mother. Worse, having been dealt faulty genes in their gestation due to a zinc deficiency in their mother, these abnormal genes are then passed along to subsequent generations. Many of today's 'genetic' diseases can be attributed to this sequence of circumstances.
Another news item - "Treating the Common Cold"; SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, Nov. 1996, page 24 - documents the new discovery that a zinc supplement given to people with the common cold and the flu cuts the period of infection in half. Although zinc is maintained in the soils of modern agriculture, the wide-spread incidence of these afflictions and ills shows that the zinc levels in our daily nutrition are too low.
I am also fully aware that our health is now severely affected by many chemical and industrial pollutants, contaminants and pesticides in our food, water and environment. A recent study has found, for instance, that we and our children track common garden pesticides and herbicides into our homes on our shoes - either from our own, or our neighbour's lawns and gardens - and that the concentration of these poisons and pesticides in the carpets of our homes is from 10 to 100 times higher than on the lawn outside!
This has truly alarming consequences for our young children, for several reasons. Young children spend a lot of time playing on rugs - hence our proverbial 'rug-rats' - and very young children take everything they can grab into their mouth. The very young are - due to their small size and rapid growth - at far higher risk from the same amount of pesticide residues than fully grown adults. What is a negligible amount to a fully grown adult is a huge dose to a one year-old; it's that simple, and that straightforward. Simple logic tells us that dousing our environment with poisons and expecting that it will not affect us is utter foolishness. The macabre story of DDT - now present in the blood of all living things on the Earth, as well as in the mother's milk of every female on the Earth - is ample proof.
Re-establishing the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in all agricultural soils also wipes out practically all plant diseases. This completely eliminates the need for a huge amount of agricultural poisons, and their residues in our soils, water, food and environment. This will result in another massive improvement of our individual and collective health.
And practically all agricultural pests can be easily eliminated as well with a completely natural, totally harmless, supremely effective, and ridiculously cheap method as well. This completely eliminates the need for any agricultural pesticides as well - and will result in another very substantial improvement of our individual and collective health. This too can be implemented tomorrow - if we so chose.
We have to do this anyhow. Modern agricultural poisons have been used only for about 50 years. Today, substantial residues of three or four common agricultural poisons are in the blood of every living thing on the Earth, including ours, as well as traces of up to 14 other agricultural poisons. Another 50 years of dumping huge amounts of agricultural poisons into our environment will kill us all.
It is inevitable that our mental health is just as severely affected by the deficiency or lack of well over 30 natural trace elements in our nutrition. Take lithium, for instance. Lithium is well known to prevent the extreme mood swings of manic depressives. But lithium is neither monitored nor maintained in the soil by our modern agriculture. (Plants, lacking any brains, have no need for lithium). Consequently, lithium has become either severely deficient or entirely absent from agricultural soils, hence from its products, and hence again, from our daily nutrition. Given an endemic lithium deficiency in our population, it is inevitable that we should see a substantial increase in incidents of extreme and violent behaviour in our population - now an almost daily item on the news.
The fire-test of any new discovery is it's power of prediction. Ever since I had made this discovery in 1984, I had predicted - in public print - the sudden advent of ever more new, mysterious, devastating and macabre diseases. To my horror, all my predictions have been proven all too correct, over and over again. The only thing that astonished me was the number and the speed with which these new and mysterious diseases made their appearances. Eight new diseases appeared in 12 years - AIDS, Legionaires disease; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; Sudden Respiratory Distress Syndrome (Four Corners disease); Mad Cow disease; the human variant of Mad Cow disease; Flesh-Eating disease; and most recently (Dec.1996) a brand-new, completely mysterious, and as yet un-named disease (discovered in Four Mile Brook, Nova Scotia) which rapidly wastes the muscles of both humans and horses. I never thought that there would be so many, nor that they would come so fast.
And as long as we continue to ignore the lack of over 30 natural and crucially vital biological trace elements in our daily food, I have no other choice than to stand by my predictions. If nothing is done, we will continue to witness the escalating advent and rapid spread of ever more new, mysterious and progressively morbid diseases, as well as the resurgence and rapid spread of many 'old' diseases. But the worst will come, within the next five years, as our newborns will be born progressively more sickly both physiologically and mentally, and in short order, unviable. Our future will rapidly become much worse than our present.
But all of this can be corrected very easily, very quickly, and very cheaply. With one simple, single stroke - just by re-establishing the full natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in all agricultural soils - we can eliminate and prevent practically all plant and human diseases, eliminate all agricultural poisons, and thus wipe out two major causes of our health crisis. We also get to live in a far more healthy and viable environment. And for those who are in strapping health right now, here is another motivation. The elimination and prevention of most diseases will result in a huge reduction of our public health care expenditures, - and consequently, in our taxes.
The bottom line, as the saying goes, and the simple, bitter truth is that we have been deprived of our natural birthright to120 years in perfect physical and mental health by the vast ignorance and cavalier neglect of our modern agriculture. Practically all of the diseases which plague us now have been foisted upon us by this appalling ignorance. Worse, it has long been known that all of these trace elements are naturally present, at least normally, in all living organisms. But due to their miniscule amounts - they are measured in parts per million - these trace elements have been dismissed by our scientists as of no importance whatsoever - like traces of dirt on a potato. As it now turns out, they are of crucially vital importance to the normal functioning of our metabolisms and immune systems.
It remains to be said that the normal 120 year life-spans in perfect physical and mental health of the 5 societies mentioned at the beginning of this account are due to one common factor. All of these societies practice agricultural methods which return and maintain the complete natural range of the 40+ biological trace elements in their soils, hence in their all of their food, and hence again, in their metabolic and immune systems. Consequently, among them, a 50 year-old is a 'youngster', and their 90 year-olds compare well to our healthy 5o year-olds.
This then, is the full scope and vast promise of our natural birthright to long lives in perfect physical and mental health. And it can be ours in less than a year - if we so choose - and make it happen.
