Two words describe Jeanette O Keeffe; beautiful and talented. This British
Columbian was born on September 8th, 1969, and is the fifth born of seven children from an
Irish/French-Canadian family. As early as age five Jeanette can remember singing and
making up her own songs. Some of her idols were Dolly Parton, Juice Newton, The Carpenters
and Aretha Franklin. It was Jeanettes mother who saw that at age eleven, singing was
more than just a hobby and enrolled her in singing lessons. During this five-year training
period, Jeanette discovered the Heritage Musical Theatre Company, and began, not only to
sing with them, but to act and dance as well. Jeanette performed in ten different
productions with this theatrical company. By age seventeen, Jeanette began singing lead
vocals for a band called Electric Night. She even got paid!
Just a year and a half later, Jeanette went to England to attend a family funeral. This
very sad event in her life turned into something wonderful. While she was only supposed to
be in England for a week, she ended up landing the lead vocalist position for The Royal
Airforce and Marine Stage Band. For the next two years, Jeanette traveled and performed
throughout England at various charitable events and Royal Airforce functions. Her
experience in England helped to identify Jeanettes purpose behind her music. Since
this time Jeanette has had the opportunity to help numerous charitable causes throughout
England and Canada.
She returned home and began working with a variety of music groups. At age twenty-three
Jeanette auditioned for, and won the lead role of Miss Molly in the Pacific
National Exhibitions production of The Travis Twitt Traveling Road Show.
This musical comedy ran for five months with a total of five hundred and fifty
performances. Jeanettes love of Country music intensified.
In 1998 Jeanette released her self-titled, debut Country album. The miracle is that she
funded this project herself and over came many near-impossible obstacles. Not being signed
to a major record label has not deterred this great talent. Jeanette now has a
distribution deal with PHD Canada in association with Southbound Records of London. This
project has brought forth national and international radio success. The first three
singles, Still The One, "Now Youre Gone and This
Time have all charted with great acclaim and have all been supported by video play
on CMT. Jeanette was nominated for the RPM Magazines Big Country Award for
Outstanding New Female Artist. She now has her own band and performs at festivals, fairs
and clubs throughout Canada.
In February of 2000 Jeanette signed a management agreement with Perfect Solution Agency in
association with Vizcarra, Kirk and Fobare, who together, share clients such as, Crystal
Gayle, Michael Bolton and Shania Twain, as well as an impressive roster of major league
baseball players and super models. This agreement brings Jeanette one step closer to
signing a major recording contract.
Jeanette now resides in South Surrey, BC with her husband and three beautiful daughters.
Her dream is to be able to help others through her music on an international level. A
voice that can be compared to none, a beauty that is natural and deeper than just skin, a
writing style that is unique and bold. This is one person who can not be overlooked. She
is on her way to even greater things. Look out Nashville, Jeanette OKeeffe is
coming.
