Valley Curbing Ltd.,as the name implies is primarily a concrete curbing installer.I have been a partner since it`s inception in 1989.The company was originally started with two partners, myself and Peter Layhew. After a year of operation we found the two of us could not handle the work load.A third partner was brought in,Lloyed Brandner. The three of us grew up in Prince George,B.C.,Peter and Lloyed worked together for a number of years with Castle Concrete, based in Burnaby,B.C. at that time I was with a competing company,Jack Cewe Ltd.In 1980 I moved from the Vancouver area to Kelowna, where I was involved with Burcon Slipform,Peter showed up in the mid 80`s with his own company(Okanagan Curbing and Paving Stones Ltd.)In 1989 after beating our heads together for a number of years we teamed up to form Valley Curbing.Peter is retiring as of Feb.28,1997.(you`ll be able to find him in Zihuateneo,Mexico at the Tres Marias Hotel a good part of the time)So far the business has treated us all pretty well, the summers are sometime long and hard but a three month shut down in the winter makes you forget the long hours quickly. The goal now is to be able to retire soon enough to enjoy the fruits of our labours along with Peter.

We are primarily a sub-contractor working for large roadbuilding companies. We install curb and gutter and sidewalks. We use a slipform curber(Gomaco 6300)to install curb`s,sidewalks are usually handformed using steel form.Three thousand lineal feet of curbing per day is the norm, two thousand feet of sidewalk. The company employs approximately 16 hourly workers plus 3 working partners. We also install stamped concrete and interlocking paving stones.Tho based in Kelowna we do a lot of work in the interior of B.C.If you have any question we can be reached in Kelowna at 250-860-8742 fax 250-860-2088.

A new day has dawned,Peter is officially retired. The best to him from all of us.Thanks for the memories Peter.

We have a new working partner,Doug Valentino.Doug and his family are Albertan transplants.(Funny how we have no problem convincing people to move from Edmonton to the Okanagan)He owned a small firm in Edmonton (Accuform Ltd.)Doug will be taking charge of Lloyed`s crew in the field and Lloyed will take over the office duties. We have just moved to a new office location #3-1368 St.Paul St. Kelowna,B.C. V1Y-2E1. (This move will enable Peter to sleep a little later in the mornings,as our office was located in his house before.)Again I`ll wish Peter the best in his future endeavors and sign off for now.

BackSee you later, some of us still have to work for a living!
