My Guardian Angel

The loud whistling wind did not allow me to sleep. I lied down on my bed, eyes open to my bedroom window. It was extremely dark outside and rain clouds blocked out the stars and moon. The tree outside my window swayed aggressively back and forth. I suddenly became extremely afraid, I could of sworn I saw a dark shadow pass by my window. My eyes glared open as the window swung open from a gust of wind. Suddenly my room felt much more dark, and it quickly became very cold. It was almost like there was an unseen force in my room circling my bed.

My dad came into the room and switched on the lamp. He walked over to the window, shut it, and secured the lock. He walked over to me and said “Are you still awake? You need your sleep you know.”

“I know dad, it’s just the wind was keeping me awake.” I closed my eyes and thought about drifting off to sleep. I could hear my father kneel down beside my bed, and he began to pray.

“Dear lord, please protect my son, and stand with him in times of need. Protect him from temptation, and deliver him from evil. Thank you oh lord.” After his prayer he stood, and rested his hand on my head and said, “Pleasant dreams.” On his way out he turned off the light and shut the door behind him. My room felt really warm, and it seemed more safe then ever before. Even the wind outside my window had died down.

That night while I was sleeping I began to dream. I saw my room, it was dark, lit only by a moon beem that shone down over my bed. An image of my father knelt beside my bed praying. Then outside the window, a large fast moving black shadow headed for my room. Before it got to my window, another much larger bright shadow appeared. It had a huge wing span and stood there in front of my window. The dark shadow stopped its descent, frozen, almost as though it were terrified of something. The large white shadow, pulled out what looked like a large sword out and pointed it toward the dark shadow.  The darkness, quickly turned and left elsewhere. The white shadow put the weapon away, turned around and entered my room. Never before in my life had I felt so safe and secure, almost like I was sleeping in God’s arms.
