Mingyur Rinpoche Bibliography

The first Mingyur Rinpoche - Yonge Mingyur Dorje Trakpo Nuden Tsal, was foretold by Guru Rinpoche who predicted that he will be a Tetron. He found three root termas from which many auspicious texts sprung. At 22 years old he had a vision of the 2nd Karmapa from which evolved the Karma Pakshi Guru Yoga.

Mingyur Rinpoche traveled  extentsively in Tibet and bound seven of eight great demons to the Dharma. The eight he was unable to tame, spread the Hon plaque which decimated the Yak herds in Tibet. Contemplating the problem on a mountain, he suddenly sprang up, grabbed a sling, killed a mountain goat and concoted a cure for the plague. Mingyur Rinpoche spent much of his time in retreat and acheived many other great accomplishments.

The second to the sixth Mingyur Rinpoches continued to discovered termas and were famous for their great meditative experiences.

The present 7th Mingyur Rinpoche was born in Nubri, Nepal to a great lama, Urgyen Rinpoche and Sonam Chodron, a direct descendent of King Trison Detsen. A week before his birth, a white rainbow led to the field behind the family home. At his birth, a white rainbow shone at night to his door. A week after his birth, a white rainbow emanated from the river that passes his home.

When at three, he was recognized by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa and His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse. Dilgo Khyentse, after having a vision of Mingyur Dorje, announced that Mingyur Rinpoche was in fact a coemergence of two Rinpoches; Mingyur Rinpoche and Kangyur Rinpoche ( an important Nyingyma master.

At five he made his first trip to Sherab Ling where the Tai Situpa bestowed a long life empowerment and invited him to stay and study there. At six years old, he formally began his studies with his grandfather, Ngagpa Lama Tashi Dorje, a respected meditation master now leading the three year retreat at Ngeden Ozer Ling in Nepal.

At nine, he was called to study with his father, Urgyen Tulku, when he received the Terchen of  Chogyur Linpa -the core empowerments and oral transmission of the Nyingma lineage. For the next two years, he received Mahamudra instructions from from his father at the retreat centreof Ritru.

Mingyur Rinpoche further received the essential empowerments and studied all the Kagyu texts and Mahamudra from various masters including his father. At twelve, he was enthroned  in Serab Ling by the Tai Situpa. He entered the three-year retreat at thirteen in Serab Ling. He received all the empowerments and explanation for the retreat from Saljay Rinpoche. At seventeen, he became the new Retreat Master of Serab Ling in replacement of Saljay Rinpoche who passed away.

Mingyur Rinpoche's father had often praised Nyoshul Khenpo Rinpoche and when he was 22 an opportunity arose to receive the Dzogchen Tri Chu and Truskhor from him. This rare teaching is only given on a one master one student basis in an intensive retreat.

Currently, Rinpoche has been to the centre of Kangyur Rinpoche in France three times and has toured the US twice giving teachings and meditation retreats.
