Overseas
Because of the wide scope of projects Holmsen and Tarbes have undertaken or participated in, we have become familiar with a variety of forestry practices, timber harvesting methods and equipment, as well as timber processing, applied to management and op erations in tropical and temperate forest regions. Overseas assignments include project appraisals and supervision, and experience in tropical forest management, harvesting, transportation and processing practices in natural and plantation forests in Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Myanmar (Burma). Knowledge and understanding of the problems related to the deforestation of the Amazon forests, and the resulting impacts on biodiversity and social and physical environments, have been accumulated through direct experience in Brazil and its Amazonian states. Direct contract services have been provided in forest plantation establishment, management, harvesting, utilization and product marketing.
