How I do what I do

This page is in response to the few people who have requested information on how I do my art.

I usually have a general idea as to how a design will look when done, but of course it always ends up doing what it wants to do instead of doing what I want it to do. Everything I do starts out as a line drawing. I use divide00rs, compasses, protractors and whatever else falls to hand. I originaly learned the basic construction methods from a wonderful book entitled 'Celtic Art' by George Bain. I still use these methods as well as with some others I have discovered along the way.

When the lines are complete I ink them in and then add color using a special marker that has an end like a paintbrush. They are simple, easy and come in lots of beautiful colors.

I get my inspiration from all sorts of places but mainly the Book of Kells. For my interpretations I like to use a combination of what is accepted as traditional meanings, along with my own ideas, spawned by reading countless self help and psychology books. I would like to stress here that what I have written simply reflects my own thoughts.
