What is Reflexology?
Amongst other definitions, it is a totally non invasive natural therapy aimed at the restoration of health.
How long should the sessions last? Anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
How does it work?
Reflexology works to clear the body of accumulated toxins.
The stimulation applied acts to clear nervous and tissue congestion, removing accumulated toxins from them and encouraging the body's own innate healing ability.
What will I feel during the session?
You may feel a warm glow over your whole body or you may feel quite light, and often completely free of pain. On a psychological level, you may feel euphoric or be in a deeply relaxed state. The effects may not last until the next appointment, but chronic symptoms often return with less intensity, and over successive sessions the period of freedom from discomfort will lengthen and the problem should gradually be alleviated.
What kind of reactions should I expect after the session?
Your session will probably leave you feeling tranquil and deeply relaxed. In addition you may or may not feel an increase in bowel action and urination. Or you may have a heavy head or aching limbs; this is a result of toxins that have been released into your system. The above reactions are a normal outcome of treatment and often show that a positive effect has been achieved.
How do I prevent the above reaction?
Drinking lots and lots of water helps the body to flush the toxins out and leave your system.
How often should I have a session?
A series of 1 to 4 sessions is recommended, depending on the individual and thereafter twice a month or as often as your body needs it.
Will I feel pain?
Usually not, however one may feel some tender spots which can be a signal of a problem in the functioning of the corresponding organ. Most likely the problem disappears or you may feel it with less intensity before the session's end.
I have sweaty hands and on some occasions it is embarrassing, can Reflexology help?
Absolutely, excess sweating hands is often stress-related and frequently occurs when the sympathetic nervous system is overactive. Reflexology sessions will relax and relieve you of this problem eventually.
How do I find a Reflexologist?
Through word of mouth referral, contact the Canadian Institute of Reflexology or your local Reflexology Institute.
What should I look for in a Reflexologist?
Someone who cares and gives satisfactory service,is able to answer your questions and if not, she/he is willing to take the time and find the answers for you.
Is Reflexology a medical diagnosis?
Reflexology analysis IS NOT a conclusive medical diagnosis, but rather gives the practitioner an overall guideline to your health and indications of specific areas to work on.
