While it is yet in the state of construction, I thought I'd delight you with a picture and some statistics* of my favourite RN warship: the ill-fated HMS Hood. My choice speaks volumes about my particular hobbies, interests, and leanings (including history, world politics, British imperialism, scale model builiding and such). Builders: Clydebank Laid down: 1 Sept. '16 Launched: 22 Aug. '18 Completed: 5 March '20 Cost: 6,025,000 pounds

Dimensions: 810'/860' x 104' x 28'6" = 41,200 tons. Full load at 31'6" = 45,200 tons.

Armament: 8 15-in./42, 12 5.5-in./50., 4 4in. A.A., 4 3pdrs. Torpedo tubes: 2 21-in. submerged, 4 21-in. above water.

Protection: Sides from 12"-4". Barbettes from 12"-5". Turrets from 15"-5" crowns. Conning tower 11"-9". Decks from 3"-1". (Total weight of armour 13,800 tons.)

Machinery: Brown-Curtis geared turbines S.H.P. 144,000 = 31 knots. Boilers 24 Yarrow (small tube). 4 screws.

Fuel: Oil 1,200/4,000 tons.

Complement: 1,477.
