(part of interview missed)

Interview cut by MetroCafe so only CK is heard speaking:

And the timing was right for Sony. They paid a visit to my hometown in Winnepeg, and watched me sing for an hour or hour and a half or something. And sent me out a fax saying "Here's your contract, we want you... and we're ready..."

I listened to my record and hear lots of influences. And it's very rich... it's got a wide spectrum. It's got its own sound that has a sort of a hint of classics to it, because I've been classically trained as well. There's some classic style of piano playing in it. And then it also has like an edgy sort of angsty thing.... which is very contemporary. And I think its accessible to a lot of listeners.

Once I got a record contract, and I took my songs which weren't quite finished, or maybe they were a good idea, maybe they weren't. I took them into the studio and developed them. They came to life and they evolved.... and they're great. And now I write things and I don't question them. I know that they'll come out beautifully if they're meant to. I think it's important to really press on with the song writing and just go with it. There's no code, there's no craft... it's just let yourself shine through your music. If it's meant to be loved and heard, it'll happen.
