Hapag Lloyd AG deploys 18 modern containerships of its own in addition to many charter ships, chiefly on the main routes Europe-Asia, Europe-North America and North America-Asia. The final freighter in its recent series of eight 4,400 TEU newbuildings costing an overall DM 1.2 billion was delivered at the beginning of 1995. In 1995, with a view to participating in the steady growth in container transport, Hapag-Lloyd ordered three more newbuildings also with capacity for 4,400 standard containers. A new 3,400 TEU freighter was integrated into the fleet in 1996. In 1996 Hapag-Lloyd's annual transport volume will exceed one million standard containers.
Hapag-Lloyd also owns Rickmers-Linie, which offers worldwide multi-purpose services with conventional vessels, mainly for trade with China, which Rickmers has served for over a century.

A fleet of 13 dedicated vessels ranging from 40,000DWT to 260,000DWT provides the Ore/Coal transportation service all over the world. Hyundai also operate a Tanker service from the Arabian Gulf to Korea. Two 125,000 cbm size MOSS type LNG carriers one of which is to trade between Indonesia/Korea and Malaysia/Korea. In January 1997 Van Ommeren of the Netherlands took a 40 percent share in the company and IVER Ships took over the commercial management of Van Ommeren's deeps tanker activities. Of these ships, 30 are fully owned by Yang Ming Line. The fleet is composed of full-container ships, huge bulk carriers, ore/coal carriers and supertankers.
Zim Israel Navigation Company http://www.zim.co.il/ us structured into four operating units. Zim Container Services http://www.zim.co.il:80/zcs.html operates one major line with 15 container ships. ZIMEIL http://www.zim.co.il:80/zimeil.html provides shipping services between the Far East, Australia, East and South Africa, Southern Europe and the Israeli ports. The service operates 6 regular routes employing 18 vessels.
