Two birds entwined in a tree are found in many instances of Celtic art. This design is based on the motif as it appears on St. Patrick's Bellshrine. I added the little figure between the branches of the Tree of Life, called Psyche, whose name means "Butterfly", a symbol of soul transformation. "Deva" is an Indian word meaning, "being of light", and refers to the transformed psyche. Birds and snakes intertwining symbolise the union of opposites, sky above, earth below. The tree symbolises life, whose root is hidden.
