My first real trip was a three week tour through New Zealand in 1999, and since then there have been few days when I haven't been either thinking about my previous trip or planning the next one.
So non-cyclists should take heed - even the smallest weekend trip may lead to an uncontrollable obsession with seeing more of the world by bicycle, and a dangerous urge to quit your day job.
